On May 24 – 25, Snipe Fleet #1 of the Corinthian Sailing Club on White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas, hosted its 72nd annual Southwestern Snipe Championship in conjunction with the Snipe Class District 2 Regatta. Ten boats attended with boats coming from Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Austin and Dallas. After six races in very tricky conditions, Gene Soltero and crew Catherine Holt of Dallas prevailed by ¼ point over John and Mary Buckley of Lincoln Nebraska, to win the championship. The Southwestern Snipe Regatta dates back to 1932 being held on White Rock Lake.
